The new year is upon us, which has got me thinking, it’s about time I caught everyone up on the happenings here at the #EgoOffice. We’ve been very busy, and then very not. Work hard, play hard I think is the mantra. Shall we run it back and see what’s been going down?
First, the elephant in the room. The prolonged radio silence. Anyone following the blogs will know this was due to the increased pressure of contract work. Not that I was crunching too hard to write this or anything, but rather, everything we were working on, we couldn’t really talk about. The blogs were becoming drier and drier. It was like your childhood Christmas turkey! But gone is that time, for we have finished our contract and the game is out! Presenting Happy’s Humble Burger Farm!

This disturbing restaurant simulator is the brainchild of Scythe Dev Team, an America based team that have a history of producing sinister worlds and telling stories within them. They’re great, and I’ve had an absolute blast working with them! So what is the game about?
Well my best recommendation is to play it yourself and find out! At face value it’s a creepy cooking simulator that puts you in the boots of the latest employee at Happy’s Humble Burger Farm, a restaurant serving food to the masses in the perpetual night of Elysium City. Do your job well and you’ll have no worries, however make too many mistakes, and Happy will be… err… un-Happy. Creepy right? Well that’s just the start, as you play you’ll uncover more and more about this world you are in and, one creepy step at a time, draw yourself closer to the truth!
#EgoProblems has been working for the fantastic SockMonkey Studios to help bring this game to consoles, and as of December 3rd Xbox and Playstation officially launched alongside the Steam version, with a steam launch coming soon! It was a tough job, as the time was tight, but we succeeded and I couldn’t be happier! You should all go play it, it’s a wild ride!
But what happened next? Well, then comes the play hard. We pushed ourselves to get Happy’s out, and with a successful launch I decided it was time for a bit of a cool down. Though I was still doing bits and pieces, it was definitely not all go, so by the time Christmas came around I took full advantage of the occasion and switched off entirely. We had a nerdy tree at my place:

And at Suzie’s abode, a much more traditional tree was erected, from under which, Zuko says hi:

Christmas passed and was lovely, I tried to get some art practice in, more on that in another post, and New Year came rocketing towards us. We spent the new year at my place, playing video games, eating an ungodly quantity of pizza, and chatting to people on Discord as and when they dropped into the channel. It was lovely.
But we weren’t done there! Oh no, in a desperate attempt to keep the good times rolling, Suzie and I took ourselves out to New Quay in Wales, where we spent a week essentially by the fire, or on the coastal walking route. We saw fewer people in that week than an average trip to my local Morrisons at home, it was surreal. But very wonderful. And yet, all good things have to end. It was time to get back to the grind.
This week has been a blur of activity. As I slowly start up the great machine that powers my work ethic again, I made a bold decision. I had outgrown the #EgoOffice as it was. It was time for a change. So I relocated. Three feet down the hallway. Dramatic no? In all seriousness, I decided to swap my bedroom and the office around, I barely use the bedroom and when I do, I’m sleeping, and I spend hours of my working life in the office, so it just made sense. It was chaotic for a while, as this image will attest to:

But in the end it all worked out. Presenting the New Improved #EgoOffice:

There’s so much room for activities! And the nerd wall behind me is a constant source of joy. Each object on there is a sentimental treasure. I love it.
I’m going to be easing back into the once a fortnight pattern, so I’ll save the “what’s next for #EgoProblems” till next time. It’ll be worth it to stick around though, because it’s exciting news. Until then though, welcome back, it’s great to be talking to y’all again!
Matt out.
