Dreams to Deliver and Designs to Define!

Hey folks, it’s that time again! This is it. This is the blog where I’m going to talk about the game we’re going to spend the next two years developing! We’ve a lot to do, more to learn, and business to be had. Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

As you may remember, we went silent on the socials for a few months last year. This was to focus on the contract work as has been discussed, but the reason I took the decision to work 5 days a week, foregoing any internal development time is this: we’re now not taking on any new contract work! #EgoProblems is going full time on our internal project! You might think that means Horde all day every day, but this is not the case. We’re putting Horde on the backburner for a while, and instead we’re going to be developing a PC/Console party game! Introducing Strays:

Those of you with better memories than me might remember this game idea. Hark back to year one and this post. Remember how I literally dreamt up a game? Well, a short while back it came up in conversation with some friends and they really latched onto it. So I approached some other people. Everyone loved the idea!

Obviously I’ve fleshed out the design somewhat since then, with help from the people around me, not least of which is John, who is just as excited as me to be working on this! We have a roadmap, a list of internal systems that need building, and a few more gameplay ideas than we had on Horde, which to me is already a good start!

So watch this space! And if you didn’t watch the video, allow me to briefly enlighten you. Strays (which, by the way, is a working title, particularly as the fairly excellent looking “Stray” recently launched, and we don’t want crossed wires there), is a multiplayer party game in which you play as dogs who are just out for a good time. You have to create as much chaos as you can in each level, in the hope of causing a chain reaction that creates an exit, before the dog catchers turn up and hunt you down! We’re looking for crazy cooperative capers in the same vein as Overcooked or Out of Space, with some of the rampant chaos of Untitled Goose Game.

There’s a lot to do, but we’re hoping we can build an early prototype so we can start pitching it around to publishers or investors, perhaps extend our dev time or increase our staff. With that in mind, if anyone reading this is an artist or animator (3D), and likes the sound of the game, please get in touch! My programmer art isn’t gonna cut it here, and we’d love to hear from you.

That’s it from us this week, stay tuned for more blogs, videos and maybe a stream or two in the future! Watch this space!

Matt out.

  1. I don’t think the title of your article matches the content lol. Just kidding, mainly because I had some doubts after reading the article.

  2. Can you be more specific about the content of your article? After reading it, I still have some doubts. Hope you can help me.
